Our history

It was in 1944 that the founder of the chain, Mr. Jean-Noël Croteau, opened his first store in La Tuque, in the Mauricie region. At the time, the store was called L’Économie.

In the years to follow, more stores were opened by other members of the founder’s family: his brothers and their children. It was only at the beginning of the 80s that the chain really took off when some storeowners decided to change their image and increase the size of their stores. They all used the same signage for their stores and created a purchasing banner called Aubainerie Croteau. Their main goals were to increase their buying power, combine their ideas and unite their efforts in order to see this entirely Québec company prosper.

In 1997, the chain modified its name and decided upon being called L’Aubainerie. Its defined objective was to stay current in the fashion industry while maintaining affordable prices for all budgets. The new stores opened their doors under the name L’Aubainerie Concept Mode. The growth of the network was astounding. So much so, that there are now more than 40 stores across Québec. What’s more, we’re not finished growing!

In order to maintain its growth, L’Aubainerie is constantly on the lookout for new business opportunities. With the help of a group of dynamic, united Québec merchants enthusiastic about what the future has to offer, L’Aubainerie has been able to develop a network which now includes more than 44 stores:

Management

Made up of a Board of Directors, the Management focuses on the evolution of the L’Aubainerie concept and ensures that corporate goals are reached.

Purchasing
Our purchasers keep their eyes on the market to find the perfect products that will seduce our customers and give them the best bang for their buck. They have established trustworthy business relationships with more than 150 suppliers.
Marketing and sales
Our marketing team ensures the deployment of advertising campaigns and promotions for the chain of stores.
Human resources
Our human resources department provides unparalleled support in terms of staff management to all the stores in the network.
IT
All merchants are connected to a computer network which allows them to obtain statistics and strategic information. This helps them make sound business decisions. The IT department is in charge of network maintenance, updates and data processing, and provides technical support to merchants both day and night.
